your anti-spam appliance is telling you that the sender's return path in the message is not a valid domain that the sender is responsible for or it doesnt match the MAIL FROM: in the SMTP conversation. The return-path essentially defines where NDRs go to for the message. ( Some anti-spam products also drop messags with a blank return-path <>) If you really want to allow these from this domain, whitelist their ip addresses for their sending servers ( or have the senders use a valid SMTP domain if that is the case)

We dont use an anti spam appliance. We just use AppRiver- I dont want to just whitelist their ip addresses as it is a very large company, and would entail who knows how many servers.

Ok, AppRiver = anti-spam . The sender should have gotten a NDR telling them the same thing. I would contact AppRiver support for more info and they can give you their standard verbage on why its being rejected and how to resolve with the original sender.
